water.org Global Headquarters

Kansas City, MO

Design of new global headquarters for water.org, an international not-for-profit whose mission is to transform lives by providing access to safe water and sanitation.

Challenge

Assist water.org with relocating their global headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, to a compelling office environment which reflects the staff, location and organization’s brand.

Process

The SFS team worked with water.org to define space requirements, evaluate potential spaces and explore various workplace design concepts for their new global headquarters. This included benchmarking tours to demonstrate various workplace strategies employed by other organizations in the design of their spaces. The team developed “test fit” floor plans and construction cost estimates for each potential space to aid water.org in their evaluation and selection process. Once the new office space and a preferred design concept were selected, SFS finalized the design for the tenant improvements, including the selection and procurement of furniture and fixtures.

Solution

Located in the historic Piper Lofts Building in Kansas City’s creative Crossroads District, water.org’s new global headquarters includes open, collaborative office space with various-sized conferencing and meeting rooms, phone rooms, hoteling offices, private offices, a break area and work rooms. The new space responds to the organization’s mission, brand and location in the heart of the city’s creative community.
