Consolidated Fire District Station No. 2
New facility design supports fire fighting personnel and apparatus and fire district headquarters
Replace an obsolete fire station with a new facility that supports fire fighting personnel and apparatus and provides space for training and fire district headquarters offices.
Our designers worked closely with Consolidated Fire District No. 2 representatives to meet the design approach and the needs of both emergency response and administrative functions.
SFS provided planning and complete architectural services for the 13,158 SF combined fire station and fire district headquarters facility. The fire station includes three apparatus bays for fire equipment and Emergency Medical Services functions. The station is organized around the apparatus bays, with support spaces such as living and sleeping dorms located around the bays’ perimeter for quickness of response. The district’s headquarters is physically separated from the station by a steel framed canopy and steppes down a gently sloping site. The apparatus bay roof was raised to the south to allow a clearstory of controlled natural light, and extended at an opposite pitch to the north to shelter apparatus egress and provide a front porch to the neighborhood.
