CJCFPD Fire Station No. 5

Blue Springs, MO

Fire station incorporates traditional firehouse elements with modern function and personnel amenities

Design a modern, efficient fire station that serves immediate and long-term district needs for effective emergency response in a rapidly growing community.

SFS worked closely with fire district representatives to identify a visual image for the facility as well as space needs for equipment and personnel alike.

The 8,200 SF station provides living accommodations for six fire fighter/EMS personnel with apparatus storage that includes drive-through double-length bays. The design conveys respect and appreciation for the traditions of firehouses. A working hose tower provides a vertical marker for the station, and arched openings are incorporated over the apparatus bay entries. Large roof overhangs provide protection for clearstory glazing, which allows natural light to penetrate the equipment bays and staff quarters.
