Meadowbrook Park Activity Center
Design of an activity center within a new park as part of a broader country club/golf course redevelopment project
Design an activity center anchoring a new community park that responds to the topography and natural aesthetic of the former golf course site while connecting to other park and neighborhood amenities
A feasibility study evaluating reuse of the golf course clubhouse for a multipurpose community center versus new construction was first completed. Based on results of the study, plans were developed for a new activity center within the park. The park is part of a broader effort to redevelop a former country/golf club into a mixed-use community. The team worked closely with the private development team, city and county officials and the local community to envision and design the facility.
The 12,000 SF activity center is sited prominently within the park. The design features a natural stone and glass exterior with abundant views to the park. The activity center will include several multipurpose rooms of varying sizes, a banquet/events space and catering kitchen, a lobby/prefunction space, administrative offices and handicap accessible restrooms available to park users.
