Grandview Maintenance Facility
Durable, functional civic building, constructed without service disruption
Challenge
Design a sustainable, durable, highly functional vehicle maintenance facility that will enable the Parks and Public Works departments to serve local citizens and businesses effectively and efficiently over a long building life-cycle.
Process
Following a preliminary evaluation, the team facilitated a charrette/LEED workshop with city representatives to present the evaluation results and alternative approaches, including the potential for incorporating LEED/ environmentally responsible design elements.
Solution
The new facility includes space and functionality for both Parks and Public Works departments and maximizes joint or shared work areas. Natural light is maximized in office and vehicle storage and repair areas through skylights and thermally rated glass. Operations at the site were maintained during construction to ensure continuous service delivery to local citizens and businesses.
