SFS Architecture Studio
Design of new studio space in Kansas City’s creative Crossroads District
Create a modern workspace in alignment with studio culture and the historical context of the Creamery Building.
Workshops with studio members were utilized to explore options for transforming space within the historic Creamery Building. Concepts focused on creating a workspace that promoted collaboration, integrated technology and supported the creative design process while lightly touching the historic space.
Using the bones of the building as a guide, two zones were created within the space. One for collaboration and interaction, the other for more focused work. Furniture, including SFS designed and fabricated countertops, technology and lighting were strategically used to create the desired workplace environment. The building’s north facing windows provide expansive views to the downtown skyline and abundant natural light.
