Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust Headquarters
Design adapts retail building for re-use as state-of-the-art ambulance service facility
Challenge
Adapt an existing retail structure for re-use as an office and ambulance maintenance facility for the MAST Ambulance Service Trust that meets highly specialized functional and training needs and creates a positive working environment.
Process
SFS worked closely with MAST representatives in identifying program needs and goals, including required technologies and space configurations to accommodate all aspects of an emergency administrative, training, and vehicle maintenance facility.
Solution
The MAST Headquarters facility contains 41,000 SF of headquarters office space and 43,000 SF of vehicle and equipment maintenance space. The headquarters space includes a 64-seat, tiered classroom with A/V capabilities and three multipurpose rooms with partitions to allow for classroom size flexibility, as well as administrative offices, a 911 communications center, emergency power generator, fitness center and shower/locker/sleeping quarters for the ambulance crews.
