Border Challenge for Autism III A Huge Success
For one night, fans from MU and KU put aside their rivalry and came together to support two organizations dedicated to serving those with autism and developmental disorders: the MU Thompson Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders and the Kansas Center for Autism and Research Training. In its third year, the 2011 event raised approximately $10,000 that was split between the two organizations. Attendees voted for the school they were there to support and the school with the most attendees (MU this year!) received a greater portion of the funds. Thompson Center plans to utilize funds to help families that cannot afford services and K-CART will use their funds to support a conference that allows them to collaborate with other Autism foundations nationally by sharing research and training methods in the hopes of finding a cure.
